The Fire Salamander

I had a Reiki session with my Master/Teacher yesterday.  I always look forward to my time with her because the sense of peace and clarity that I gain not only grounds me but elevates my spirit and motivation.

We began our session by catching up on our lives; kids, health, business, then I lay on the most comfortable massage table I've ever experienced and the work starts.  Just the act of laying on the table sets my mind and restless body at ease.  Throughout the treatment I kept my eyes closed and payed attention to what my mind saw and what my body felt.  As Sharon's hands were hovering over my head and eyes, I could feel heat and energy infiltrate my aura and then absorb into my physical body in a peaceful way that made me smile.  The energy turned into a pulsing sensation, as if she were pushing then pulling her hands up and down.  I slightly opened one eye to see what her hands were doing but they were still.  No movement, yet the pulsation sensation remained.  The rest of the session was wonderful, leaving me in a sense of mental clarity and physical calm.

Sharon and I always wrap up each session discussing our insights and experiences during the treatment.  She told me that the fire salamander appeared to her as she was working on my head and that she felt sparks and little bites on her hands as they hovered over my eyes.  I told her about the pulsation I felt during that same time.  I had no idea what a fire salamander was or the meaning that this creature holds, so a little research was necessary.

Many spiritual traditions around the world believe that an animal spirit is attached to you; there to guide you and teach you lessons throughout your journey in this lifetime.  The salamander has many attributes including vision, renewal, transition, growth and awareness.  It comes to those who are in need of change in their lives and asks them to evolve in their own lives.  Reading up on this spirit animal and it's meaning resonated in my gut.  I've been on the slow boat to change for some time now but as of late, I have been feeling a heightened sense of awareness both of my physical and spiritual surroundings. I have had a nagging feeling that I should be focusing on my passion, healing work, and doing all that I can to manifest that passion.   I realize now that being conscious of that has opened me to transformation and evolution.  I have a renewed sense of commitment to my healing practice. And for myself,  I embrace transformation so that I can evolve to a higher level of consciousness.

I'm thankful for all lessons given to me, especially when given by a fire salamander!

Peace, Kristen
